Considering a ride in NV?
The Nevada Travel Board does a bang up job of promoting several aspects of Nevada for anyone desiring to visit. They seem to have an online brochure for nearly everything including a great little downloadable guide on riding NV. You can check them all out here at the NV Travel Guides and Brochures.
The riding guide is great as is the Hwy 50 survival guide and the State Parks Brochure. Check 'um out. No...i don't work for them... ![]() Cathredral Gorge is very cool and found just outside of Panaca, which I believe is the only city in NV that is "dry" and other than Boulder City, has NO gambling. ![]() ![]()

Re: Considering a ride in NV?
We drove through Panaca and the Cathedral Gorge last summer enroute to Cedar City. It is an impressive view as you drive south on Hwy 93 towards the valley, especially in the evening with longer shadows. However, any scenic view in Nevada has to be weighed against the monotony of getting there.

Re: Considering a ride in NV?
Nevada has sort of embraced it's desolation as a selling feature for tourism. The history and opportunities to explore are virtually endless.
I came across this one day and it looks like a fun excuse to just cruise across 50 and visit places along the way. Hwy 50 Survival Guide It also proves ... tell someone it is difficult, dangerous or recommend against it ... and it becomes a challenge that attracts people.

Re: Considering a ride in NV?
Is also the reason that every two years, the Cognoscente Group organizes one helluva blistering long distance rally in Nevada. Will be starting bonus scouting for this years rally in a couple weeks!
End of Days - 2012 Zombie Apocalypse. In 2010 it was the Wild Wild West rally. The blog post below is the fun one of the Rally Master's and I had while scouting the bonus locations for that rally. Bonus Scouting for the Wild Wild West. |

Stop at Middletown! It's one of the old stops along the way. As funky as it is they have really good food & they love to tell ya the story of the Victory/Lincoln Hwy! It's a mark on your Loneliest HWY Book as well.

Middlegate Station! The shoe tree used to be near here. Phenomenal breakfast here and their Western BBQ cheeseburgers are to die for!
