Thumbup Californian road trip

hi all! I'm new to this site - recommended to me by an old school friend who recently took a trip to california with some buddies.
my fiance and I are hoping to take a trip to California in August for 3 weeks.. to hire a bike (for 2) and then maybe a car for the second half of the trip. We'd love to visit San Fran down the coast to LA but also try to see Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Death valley if we can.. does anyone have suggestions for roads, bike hire etc.. any info you could give wouldbe very helpful thanks

Re: Californian road trip

Hi PJ- Not knowing your budget, here is the first suggestion. Fly to Las Vegas, and enjoy that experience. Rent a car and see the grand canyon from there. Heading back to Los Angeles you will pass through Death Valley. From Los Angeles head north to San francisco and see the sights. Saving the best for last, you will see Yosemite and a whole lot more on Pashnits Grand Tour at the end of August http://www.pashnittours.com/tour_4.html

I agree about Los Vegas and renting a car to visit Death Valley. You can get bikes in LA and ride on Hwy 1 North. In Monteray head East to Yosemite. Take 120 over the Sierras and visit Bodie Goast town, then head Noarth to lake Tahoe. After kicking back at the lake you may head back West over Sierras on Hwy 4 and from there reach San Francisco....

Give me a call when you in the area I'll come ride with you...and show you arround...

Check out my site for many rides in the Sierras and my visit to lake Tahoe:
