Hi Tim, my name is Larry, I live in Venice, CA. I came upon your site about three years ago after a near fatal car accident left me with a brain injury, unable to drive, and because of the side effects of the drugs I had to take, unable to sleep for days on end. My doctors kept encouraging me to read anything I could, so I got a computer because I had such a short attention span I couldn't read books, or magazines, so I figured a page or two here and there of the web might be good. Anyway, I found your site, and read about all the stuff you did, and it really inspired me, so I read everything you wrote, over and over again, because my memory was so wrecked the only way I knew what I had read was by the darkened links. But I read them, and read them, and the therapy started working, the drugs became less annoying, and slowly but surely my mind started coming back to me. Anytime I became depressed about my situation (i couldn't drive, I couldn't work, I was on welfare), I got on the pashnit.com site and read another adventure of yours, and kept telling myself "if only...". Well, three years later- I have a motorcycle, a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Classic, and it's the greatest thing I have done in a long time.
This is a little long winded, but I really believe that reading about everything you've experienced gave me hope for better things beyond my horrible situation, and it gave me something to look forward to, as a goal to help my own recovery.
This site is worth a lot more than you know. - Larry |
