EBC XC Contour Brake Rotors are a fully floating disc with a radical profiled new contour brake rotor ring. Braking effect is increased and weight is reduced the design of this Brake Rotor.
The brake disc centers are made from forged aluminum for durability and lightweight. EBC Pro-Lite Contour Rotors are made from high friction billet steel. This rotor will fit the left or the right side and are sold each. Need a pair - select two rotors.
An excellet option as a OEM Replacement.
What's Different? Contour XC Rotors uses just 6 buttons.
The old Pro-Lite Contour Rotors used 9 buttons. Less weight!

The steel used in the new EBC rotor blades is also a special stainless blend with higher friction effect than normal heat treated stainless steel found on stock discs and boasts up to 10% improvement in friction effect improving brakes even further. Weight of the new X and XC series is then reduced by another 5-10% by using a 6 only button drive system on a lightweight alloy centre hub, which once again grabs the lead over stock parts.
This cannot be switched to the lighter 6 button system on alloy hubs because they are still stuck in a rut using circular rivets. Circular rivets demand more contact points to get the same geometric centralisation and still avoid generating slack in the drive direction because, being circles inside circles they only offer point contact.
The SD system employs LINE contact and as such rotor blades are much more positively retained about the centre hub and never go slack in the drive direction even after abuse.

The new rotors feature EBC's unique and patented S-Drive button system which features square sided rivets captured in square drive pockets on the rotor and hub which allow the outer rotor blade to expand and contract freely under the heat of braking without suffering rivet lock.
Rivet lock is the term used when rotors heat up under heavy braking and the rotor blade contacts the (no.rmally circular) rivets that separate the inner rotor hub and the outer rotor blade. The new EBC system completely eliminates this problem area which causes 100% of the failures of rotors suffering from distortion and brake vibration.
These rotors are equipped with the NEW EBC PATENTED S-DRIVE SYSTEMWhat is S-Drive? EBC's new square sided drive button system completely eliminates the chance of rotor warping, extends rotor life and improves consistency of brake effect. Click here for more details.

EBC Rear XC Contour Rotor
With contoured profile to reduce weight, rear versions of this new programme are made in HPSR steel and zinc lated to avoid corrosion. The latest EBC contour PLUS rotors are made with special stainless steel and new lightweight profile and feature the new scraper slot system which has proved to be so successful in preventing early life rotor damage when bedding in new brakes. The scraper slots remove any loose particles/debris as the pads bed in during early life after fitment and prevent rotor scoring.
With a pro-lite profile to reduce weight, rear versions of this new programme are made in HPSR steel and zinc lated to avoid corrosion. Complete bolt-on and go rotor assemblies. Excellent choice when upgrading or replacing OEM brake rotors.
SD stands for SQUARE DRIVE
All conventional floating brake rotors use a circular rivet to attach the rotor blade to the inner hub. The SD-SystemTM uses a square sided rivet with many advantages.
The theory behind SD-System
Under the heat of braking a rotor blade expands or shrinks in both its diameter and band width causing the inside of the rotor blade to shrink radially inwards towards the hub. With circular buttons, as the rotor shrinks, it will contact the inner button and cause the rotor to tighten and either be distorted sideways causing either brake pulsation or spongy brakes.
The SD-System of square sided buttons means that the rotor can expand inwards and outwards unrestrained and that perfect rotor functionality is retained at any speed or load. Not only does this extend the lifetime of the rotor and prevent distortion failures, it keeps the rotor blades perfectly true and flat throughout their life cycle and technically the only reason for a rotor to need replacement will be impact damage or over a VERY EXTENDED number of miles possible rotor wear limits being exceeded. This means that a rotor equipped with the EBC Brakes SD-System could last 5-10 times as long as a conventional rotor built with circular buttons.
A further advantage of the SD-System is that the drive forces under braking are transmitted over a LINE CONTACT on the square side of the button compared to the point contact of a circular button. Extended use with a circular button and its point contact will mean that the rotor could shake loose over a period of time in the drive direction. Slackness of the rotor blade relative to the inner hub is a major negative and can cause rotor “throw-out” and lead to severe vibrations at speed. The SD-System maintains close tolerances of the rotor in the drive direction over a far longer period thereby extending rotor life.
